Welcome to Fall, which means Decompression season is in full swing.
I am know I am still decompressing from an amazing year! Over 900 Theme Camps, more than 1300 placed camps! We set records this year - and we did so with energy, enthusiasm and grandeur. I hope you are dust free at last, well rested and recovered.
My heartfelt thanks for a year we can be proud of. Your service and dedication needs to be applauded!
Thanks for the emails, the online comments and the feedback you are sending us. It helps us wrap up the year and sets the tone for what to focus on in 2015. Placers love hearing about what made the city bright and amazing for everyone!
The most important thing we can do after Burning Man is keep talking about it. Let's keep the conversation going. That way we can do more of what worked, and learn about what did not and move towards. As long as we are talking and writing and thinking we are growing and changing. That's what is all about, isn't it?!
Please make sure you are taking the lessons of Burning Man into the rest of your lives - and decompress in the ways that suit you. Maybe you are just a bit friendlier to people around you, or maybe you've finally met your neighbours?
Winter is a time of friendship and other kinds of celebration. I hope all of you are surrounded by loved ones as the chill begins to touch the air. Take time to let the refreshment of the desert soak in and carry us until we embark upon this journey next year!
Hurray for 2015, I can't wait.
All the best dear citizens of Black Rock City, I tip my hat to each of you,
- Answergirl

1. MOOP
Let's start with a collective cheer about all of the Green on the MOOP Map!! YAY!!!
And let's take a collective sigh that the we are repeating our pattern. The MOOP map gets published and people freak out. You want answers, information and you want to find out what happened in your camp site after you left. How did you get an X or a mark of any kind when you are certain you left your spot clean.
We really want to tell you, but the detailed report isn't available yet. The report isn't generally ready until the New Year - but once we have it, we'll dig through the information and tell you what we know. The restoration team is gathering information about 752 acres of camping area, so that is going to take a while to organize their details into a way that makes sense to us.
We're not keeping the information from you, honest. We just don't know anything more than you do right now.
You can always start thinking about how to do better next year. And most importantly, if you left something behind, with the idea that someone else would take care of it. Either a vendor, or another camp or someone you made arrangements with. You are still responsible for that stuff. Please do not leave piles of wood, scaffolding, waste or boxes of whatnot unattended. MOOP is magnetic and if you leave a pile of anything, someone could add to it. Monitor your belongings, leave your space EMPTY. Remember the connection between Radical Self-Reliance and Leave No Trace.
Thank you.

3. Participate in the Census!
Black Rock City Census data is used to show politicians how much money we spend in Nevada, to show community leaders the value of Burner-driven civic projects and to demonstrate that we are worldwide and growing. The more folks who participate, the better and more accurate the data will be. We need your help!
The Census is anonymous and voluntary. Please forward the link to all of your campmates and friends that were at the burn this year.
Here's the form:
