Heads up, artists! The deadline to pre-register your art installation for Black Rock City 2015 is June 11, which is coming up (we know how it is ... you get your head in your art, and time slips away). Pre-registering will help us help YOU be successful getting your art to the playa. If you miss the deadline, you can still bring your artwork and register it on playa, but planning ahead helps us all, so get on it!
Fundraisers for projects big and small are in full swing, and we encourage you to send them your financial support so they're able to gift their creations to the citizens of Black Rock City (e.g. YOU). Especially take a look at the Temple of Promise (whether you hit their Indiegogo campaign or their fundraising events) and R-Evolution, the third in the Bliss series of sculptures.
We hope your Burning preparations are continuing apace (have you checked your pace? You might want to check your pace.) and that your pulse rate bumped up a bit when you read that, because ...
The Man burns in 99 days. Yep, we're in double digits, folks.

Burners Without Borders Community Grant Program 2015
Burners Without Borders invites you to participate in our 7th annual Community Grant Program. To date, BWB's grant program has provided funding for over 80 civic projects that have made a positive impact by leveraging a relatively small amount of money against the mighty power of the community.
This year, we are offering grant awards from $100-$1,000 to help jump start creative civic projects in communities around the world.
It's simple. Gather your community, find out what you care about, and let your imaginations run wild. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2015.

This Week in Regionals
There's been lots of action in the world of Regional Events lately.
Midburn in Israel went down last week with nearly 7,000 participants, making it suddenly one of the biggest Burning Man events in the world. Here's a beautiful recap from the Times of Israel. Midburn also faced some challenges before and after the event. Some recent news has surfaced about possible damage to an archeological site, and the Midburn organizers are investigating.
Half-way around the world from there, New Zealand's next Kiwiburn isn't for another 240-odd days, but they've put in some amazing work and launched a beautiful and distinctive new website.

There Was a Burning Man Who Lived in a Shoe…
Burning Man word-herder Jon Mitchell paid a visit to Five Ton Crane, the Oakland workshop that brought you the Raygun Gothic Rocketship and is building Storied Haven this year:
"For this fairy tale, the voice we trust, the lead artist on Storied Haven, is Bree Hylkema. She’s a 5TC veteran, having done the interior design on the Nautilus, for instance. While maintaining her air of mystery about the form of the project, she assures us it will have the same scale and scope as 5TC’s past projects.
These aren’t just giant hell-yeah pieces, though. They also have a quiet intimacy — a treehouse, a submarine, the starry expanse of outer space — and Storied Haven will, too. 'This is what I wish I saw more of,' Bree says of Storied Haven. 'It’s a quiet piece.'”

The Participation Potluck Picnic

You are invited to join your fellow volunteers / creators / newbies for The Participation POTLUCK Picnic (event formerly known as Bar-B-Que-a-Noobie) in Oakland’s Mosswood Park, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from MacArthur BART!
This year we are inviting Burning Man staff and Volunteer Coordinators, artists, theme camps and newbies. You are the people that make Burning Man happen and the Volunteer Resource Team wants to thank and support you!

Village Roundtable and Theme Camp Speed Dating – TONIGHT!

Where: Oakland Asian Cultural Center, 388 9th Street, 2nd floor
When: Friday, May 29 at 7:00pm
Theme camps are the interactive core of Burning Man. This month we'll hear from 10 theme camp and village leaders who'll tell us what it takes to build a successful mini metropolis in the desert. As camp leaders, our speakers have experienced it all, from massive gifting to surviving mutinous campers, and from renting porta potties to love on the playa. This is going to be an entertaining night!
Immediately following the Village Roundtable will be Theme Camp Speed Dating! Wanting a new camp to join and contribute to? Then this is your chance! These camps are looking for new members to participate in a variety of fun interactive play. New and veteran Burners welcome!
Plus the Black Rock Costume Exchange will have a table of clothes to swap or accept your dusty attire for their ongoing FREE XChange.
We'll have a dedicated space for some wonderful activities including games and guided craft activities for Junior Burners.
