Citizens of Black Rock City,

Given all of the soul affecting things happening around each and everyone of us, the world needs Black Rock City now more than ever. We create a city unlike anywhere else on the planet. One where differences are celebrated, uniqueness can shine and people flourish surrounded by acceptance and support. Camps are havens of support, neighbourhoods are oases of kindness and compassion and entire sectors of the city take on personalities reflecting our charisma and charm.

We really do make something incredible together, and I bet we can do this with even more intention this year. Let's take Radical Inclusion to heart, build each other up and bolster ourselves to keep going out here in the default world. Let's help each other feel safe and connected as we stroll the streets of Black Rock City. This is something that requires Participation from all of us! I'm ready to be wowed by what we can accomplish!

And The Placement Team are ready to help Theme Camps allocate Early Arrival Passes. Get your changes to us by July 31 and look for DEATH Pony in your Burner Profile after August 1.

This newsletter has everything: info about potable water hauling; how to promote your family friendly events; how to get on BMIR and even a link to some videos!

Thank you Burning Man community, for being so great and organized! Take a deep breath, drink your water and get ready to BURN!!!

1. Early Arrival Pass Timeline

The Placement Team distributes Early Arrival Passes to Theme Camp leads who in turn give them to their campers. This year that allocation process is different and hopefully easier.
Theme Camp and Village Leads received an email this weekend with the current information about how many EA passes your camp will get. If you need to change those numbers, please do so by July 31. On August 1, you will be able to allocate those EA passes within Death Pony.

You will only be able to do this after August 1.
You will only see Death Pony in your Burner Profile after August 1.

Do you have to allocate through Death Pony?
You can allocate all of your EA passes to yourself and distribute them by hand.

What if I need more EA passes after August 1?
Email placement@ and request them, but there are no guarantees. Please try to be sorted by July 31.

I can't see Death Pony in my Burner Profile?
Is it after August 1? Let us know and we'll try to get a fix from the tech department.

2. Potable Water Hauling

Potable Water Hauling at Burning Man
In order to fight the threat of foodborne and waterborne illness on the playa, the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (NDPBH) has permit requirements for potable water haulers at Burning Man.

Any person who is hauling, delivering, vending, providing, or selling potable water to any individual or organized camp other than their own private or individual camp at Burning Man must be permitted by either the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (NDPBH) or the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP).

• If your business holds a current annual potable water hauler permit with NDEP allowing you to haul water to a public water system and requiring yearly inspection from NDEP, then no additional permit will be required or fee charged from NDPBH-EHS for your water hauling at Burning Man. You must submit a copy of your current NDEP permit prior the start of Burning Man to the NDPBH-EHS Winnemucca field office to prove that you are approved through NDEP. If the NDEP permit is current and valid, no additional permitting from NDPBH-EHS will be required.
• Potable water haulers who do not possess an annual permit from NDEP must obtain a permit for each potable water hauling vehicle and/or tank from NDPBH-EHS. The fee is $50.00 per tank or vehicle.
◦ To apply, fill out the Potable Water Hauler Permit for Burning Man on the NDPBH website, linked below.
◦ Potable water haulers must also contact Burning Man's Outside Site Services (O.S.S.) department for Burning Man's separate and additional requirements.
• If an unpermitted potable water vendor is found operating at the event, the unpermitted vendor will be required to cease operations immediately. Burning Man will be notified as well.
• RV Provider Exemption - This policy does not apply to RV providers which provide a fully stocked RV for individual use.

The Burning Man potable water hauler application may be found on NDPBH's website on the Environmental Health Section, Temporary Food Establishments page, http://dpbh.nv.gov/Reg/Temp-E/Temporary_Events_Home/

If you have any questions or concerns contact the NDPBH Winnemucca Office at 775-623-6588 or email ekunz@health.nv.gov.

3. Burning Man Directory of Events and Activities for Families

Nova writes:
I am putting together a directory for my fellow Kidsvillites and anyone else with kids at Burning Man 2016 by collecting info from the theme camps about:
1.     what they offer that is kid-friendly, and
2.     whether they will have any kid-focused events families would want to know about.
If you have anything going on at your camp that families with kids would appreciate knowing about, please get in touch with me.
Listings might include:
1.     Ongoing family-friendly offerings (i.e. "Mr. Potato Head Play Area" or "Giant Dominoes" or "Percussion Station") AND could also include
2.     Specific events (i.e. "kids fashion show at noon on Tuesday" or "Arts & Crafts Project at 2pm on Wednesday" or "Pancake breakfast at 9am on Thursday") AND could also include
3.     Repeating series of events (i.e. "noon playa art tours for families on weekdays" or "Root Beer Floats Happy hour at 5pm every evening" or "Puppet Shows nightly at 7pm").
Thank you very much. Please email listings (and questions if you have them) to Tova. Email:tovayeah@yahoo.com

4. Promote your event on BMIR

Promote your theme camp and events with a promo on BMIR!

BMIR (Burning Man Information Radio), the Voice of the Man, can be found at 94.5FM in Black Rock City and year round at http://bmir.org. It is YOUR community resource and the best outlet to deposit information directly into the grey matter of the citizens of BRC. Now that camp placement has gone out, it is the perfect time to create a promo telling everyone all about your camp shenanigans, art installation(s), unicorn parade, flaming tetherball court, and/or other events. BMIR is going to start running theme camp and event promo announcements as soon as you can get them to us, and we would LOVE to have yours in hand before we leave for the playa! This way people listening to the year round BMIR stream can find out about your event way ahead of time.

Please find the link below to our Announcement for PSAs and Promos on BMIR.
