Dearest Citizens of Black Rock City!

2017 is moving at a great rate - hope you are all keeping safe, warm, dry and engaged.

Lots of reasons to be active within our communities right now - and all the more reason to come together and build Black Rock City.

I've got DGS information for Theme Camps and Villages in good standing and we're having a Theme Camp Leadership Symposium in San Francisco this March. Hope you can attend in person on online.

1. The Directed Group Sale (DGS)

DGS Timeline

Monday February 13 - The camp lead, or updated DGS contact (deadline to make a change was 1/27/17 from a Theme Camp of Village eligible to participate in the Directed Group Sale will receive an email from ticketing regarding the number of seeds (chance to buy 2 tickets) or invitations you will be offered.

Tuesday February 14 - The DGS contact will be able to assign your group's invitations within your burner profile to anyone with a Burner Profile from your camp.

Monday February 27 - Everyone, seeds and invitees are emailed a sale reminder and their personal link to the sale.

Wednesday March 1 - The Directed Group Sale begins
Friday March 3 - at noon pacific time - the Directed Group Sale ENDS = no exceptions. this date is real and at exactly noon the link to the sale will no longer work. seriously.

FAQ -

1. Help! I need more allocations!
Chances are this is not possible. Allocations are based on previous year's population and complexity of build. The calculations were made by placement and are rarely editable.


2. I need to change my camp lead - I need to provide a new DGS contact name and email address
The deadline was 1/27/17 but if for some reason you need to do this, the camp lead must email placement@burningman.org and include the email of the new DGS contact.

3. I am splitting form my village or my camp is dividing and I need to have my allocations separately
The deadline for that change was 1/27/17 and such a complex request is no longer possible to accommodate.

4. I don't see the allocations mentioned in the 2/13 email in my profile after 2/14 but I think I should

5. I tried to invite someone and it said they've already been invited
You will need to allocate to another person - people can only be invited once,

6. I tried to invite someone, but they don't have a Burner Profile and I received an error message
Everyone invited to the Directed Group Sale need a Burner Profile. Have your person create one and try again.

2. Theme Camp Leadership Symposium

It is time for the Annual Theme Camp Leadership Symposium!
A chance to speak with Burning Man's Placement Team and each other about all things Theme Camp related.
We will begin with a coffee reception to meet and greet each other at 9:00 AM and will start the discussion at 10AM, pacific time.

The Agenda will include:
Two panel discussions
Panel 1: Inside a Great Theme Camp
Panel 2: Outside a Great Theme Camp
A Safety Meeting
How to improve your Leave No Trace Efforts, MOOP IS SMALL
A Game Show - how much to you really know??!!
And two smaller discussion groups

The Forum will take place at Temple SF in San Francisco, and will also be available online (see below).

Since we changed venues, you may bring two representatives from each camp in person only.  Additional camp members may join the webcast.
